Top sights along the Trans Dinarica in Montenegro
Have you heard of the Trans Dinarica long-distance biking adventure? Discover five stages in Montenegro!
Top sights along the Trans Dinarica in Montenegro
Trans Dinarica is a biking route through eight countries; five out of almost 100 stages also cross the Durmitor and Prokletije mountains in Montenegro.
1. Sedlo Pass
The second stage of the Trans Dinarica in Montenegro, from the small village of Trsa to the famous mountain town of Žabljak, takes you over the Sedlo Pass, without a doubt one of the most beautiful road passes on the entire route (if not in the world).

2. The Black Lake
When you cycle to Žabljak, the destination of the second Trans Dinarica stage in Montenegro, it is worth visiting Crno Jezero (the Black lake), nestled between the mountains, which consists of two lakes that are connected during high water levels. Make sure you hike around it.

3. Mt. Sinjajevina
A less visited mountain, for which you will have to pedal hard on your bike along a steep asphalt road, but the reward will be the ride of your life on a remote mountain gravel road along a dreamy mountain plateau. On the other side, an adrenaline-pumping descent along the gravel road to the Tara River Valley awaits you, where the destination of the third stage of the Trans Dinarica in Kolašin is.

4. Sušica River Canyon and Sušica Lake
As an alternative for the second stage of the Trans Dinarica in Montenegro (if the Sedlo pass is covered in snow), biking into the Sušica River Canyon is also possible on the way to Žabljak. At the bottom, take a stop by the intermittent lake: if you are there in spring, you will be greeted by a beautiful lake squeezed between the mountains, and in summer, when the water dries up, a lush meadow awaits you.

5. Mala Rijeka Bridge
On the connecting stage from Podgorica to Kolašin, you will have a view of the Mala Rijeka viaduct on the Bar-Belgrade railway line. When it was built in 1973, it was considered the world's highest railway bridge, at 200 meters above the river!
