Karuč – A Hidden Gem on Lake Skadar
Karuč – A Hidden Gem on Lake Skadar
If you're looking for peace, authenticity, and untouched nature, Karuč is the perfect getaway for you. This small fishing village, nestled on the shores of Lake Skadar, offers a chance to escape the crowds and discover one of Montenegro’s lesser-known, yet truly special, destinations.
Once a seasonal retreat for fishermen, Karuč eventually grew into a permanent settlement. It gained historical significance in the 19th century when Petar I Petrović Njegoš, a Montenegrin prince-bishop, built his winter retreat here — a stone tower that still stands today as a reminder of the past. As you walk through the village, you’ll notice stone houses, narrow paths, and stunning lake views — perfect for relaxing and taking photos.
