
The medieval fortress of the town of Budva dedicated to St. Mary, better known as the Citadel, is the most monumental architectural structure within the town walls of Budva. Dating back to the Middle Ages, this complex building is one of the most significant fortifications on the Montenegrin coast. The complex consists of fortification walls, remains of the medieval St. Mary’s church, gates, several plateaus and buildings of the former barracks. With its ambience and private dining areas, the restaurant located on the first floor presents an ideal place for private gatherings, including high quality service. The restaurant features is a spacious terrace on the eastern tower, with a stunning view of the Sveti Nikola island and the open sea. The Citadel houses one of the most valuable collections of books and maps dedicated to the Balkans, which is privately owned.
