NTO video ‘Nature & Me’ wins silver award at International Tourism Film Festival Africa

The promotional destination video entitled ‘Nature & Me’, released by the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro, has won the Silver Award at the III International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA), in the thematic category of Tourism Destination – Countries.

The awards ceremony was held in the South African city of Cape Town, at the Labia Theatre, the oldest cinema in South Africa.

On behalf of the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro, Assistant Director Aleksandra Maksimović addressed the audience and thanked the organisers via a video message.

“The National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro is honoured to have been recognised in such a competitive category alongside 95 countries, including: Croatia, Slovenia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, the UK, Spain, Mexico, Japan, India and many others,” Maksimović pointed out.

This year’s festival edition was marked by an impressive record of 865 entries. They were evaluated by an international jury, which brought together renowned professionals from Audiovisual Production, Marketing, and Tourism fields. The president of the jury was FC Hamman, an award-winning Director of Cinematography and Drone Specialist who has worked for the biggest brands in the film and television industry such as Universal, Disney, the BBC, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and Netflix, among others.

Other winners in the International Tourist Destination Films category, alongside Montenegro, included Greece, Lithuania, Denmark and South Africa.

The International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA) aims to honour the best tourism films and documentaries worldwide. The festival is part of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT), which brings together 14 tourism film festivals and is supported by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and the European Travel Commission (ETC). For the past 33 years, CIFFT rewards excellence in audiovisual communication from the Tourism Industry, positioning itself as the most prestigious competition dedicated to promotional tourism videos worldwide.

This is the second CIFFT festival award for the destination video ‘Nature & Me’. Earlier this year, the film won the first prize at the Golden City Gate in Berlin.

The video aims to promote Montenegro’s tourism product in the national, regional and international markets with a view to maintaining and improving the image of the destination, encouraging tourists to visit the country and facilitating the recovery of tourism from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The video showcases Montenegro’s integral tourism product, as well as the diversity and contrast of the destination. Combining authentic faces and characters with magnificent architecture and landscape, it points to the thin line between nature and people. Additionally, through a strong emotional appeal, it sends the message that people in Montenegro are caring, warm, and above all good hosts. Thanks to abundant and unspoiled nature and diverse offerings, tourists can spend a quality holiday in Montenegro, feeling safe and peaceful, away from the crowds and at a distance from others.

The creator of the concept and the entire marketing campaign is Bojan Joksimović. The video was directed by Ivan Marinović from Herceg Novi, who is one of the most successful Montenegrin directors of the younger generation. The producer of the video is Ivan Đurović of Articulation Film, a Podgorica-based production company.

In addition to Montenegrin, the video was also made in seven other languages (Albanian, Chinese, English, French, German, Polish and Russian), which is extremely important for promotion in different target markets.
