Innovative Approach to Cultural Tourism Development: The Second Partner Meeting of the #RomansWineDanube Project was Held

The two-day event, attended by representatives of all project partners, including the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro (NTO MNE), focused on the development of the project's key strategic components. The first day featured workshops dedicated to defining the structure and functioning of Product Clubs in sub-destinations. In Montenegro, the sub-destination included in the project is Doclea. Additionally, efforts were made to establish Tourism Observatories as tools for monitoring the economic, ecological, and social impacts of tourism at the destination level. Special attention was given to drafting the Joint Transnational Strategy for Cultural Tourism Development, during which partners identified key elements fostering cross-border collaboration and analyzed challenges in its implementation.

The second day of the meeting focused on developing a Joint communication, branding, and digital strategy. Through group work, partners defined the values and vision of the #RomansWineDanube brand. Guidelines for drafting Local action plans, which are essential documents for implementing project activities at the local level, were also presented.

“NTO MNE actively participated in defining the project’s branding and communication strategy, emphasizing the importance of authentic experiences that our country can offer as part of the cultural route. By developing the Product Club and implementing Tourism Observatories, we are creating the foundation for the sustainable development of cultural tourism and enhancing the quality of Doclea's tourism offerings,” stated NTO MNE.

Danko Ćosić, Program Director and representative of the Danube Competence Center expressed satisfaction with the project's progress.

“This meeting demonstrated the strong commitment of all partners to our shared goal. By working on establishing Product Clubs and Tourism Observatories, we are laying the groundwork for the sustainable development of cultural tourism along the entire route,” Ćosić said, adding that defining a joint communication and branding strategy highlights the values and uniqueness of this cultural route in an innovative way, contributing to its recognition and attractiveness to visitors.

The "#RomansWineDanube" project aims to foster socio-economic development in the Danube region through an innovative approach to cultural tourism. Supported by the Interreg Danube Region Program 2021-2027, the project brings together thirteen partners from nine Danube region countries. Its implementation began in January 2024 and will continue until June 2026.
