Favorite herbal ecosystems to explore

Plants found in the Montenegrin mountains include yarrow, St. John's wort, thyme, mountain germander, winter savory, mint, buckthorn, and lemon balm, among many others. Can you imagine all of those different scents and colors? 

There are countless areas to explore if you are on the hunt for herbs. However, your destination is also determined by the plant you wish to find. From Orjen, Lovćen, Rumija, or Durmitor, Biogradska gora, Prokletije, or Komovi, you can embark on a foraging and natural medicine-making adventure.

Fresh blueberries - is there anything better tasting in nature?

When you go blueberry picking, you can pick both its leaf (Myrtilli folium) or fruit (Myrtilli fructus). The leaf is collected before the plant flowers (May - June), and the fruit is collected when it is ripe (July - August). Where will you look for it? There's plenty of it! It can be found in Prokletije, Sinjajevina, Bjelasica, and Hajla. The fragrant leaves and indigo berries bursting with tart sweetness are sure to be some of your favourite treats!

Mushrooms of the Lovćen basin

It's unbelievable, but it's true. Parasol mushroom (Macrolepiota procera), Penny Bun (Boletus edulis), champignon (Agaricus bisporus), chanterelle (Cantharellus cibarius), and honey fungus (Armillaria mellea) are the most well-known edible mushrooms of the Lovćen basin. However, mushrooms can only be collected by experienced connoisseurs of this species.
