Photos of Montenegro’s scenery in the Russian edition of National Geographic Traveler

Photos showcasing Montenegro’s impressive scenery were published in an article entitled “In the mountains and joy” spread across nine pages of the spring issue of the Russian edition of National Geographic Traveler. Also, the photos were published on the website of this renowned media, which has a readership of 2.3 million people and more than 517,000 followers of its Instagram account. The estimated advertising value of the article is €103,000. The Russian edition of the National Geographic Traveler magazine is one of the oldest travel publications in the Russian-speaking area, with a circulation of 110,000.

“The publication in the spring edition of this renowned magazine is one of the promotional activities on the Russian market in the run-up to the summer season. Photographs of the Bay of Kotor, Lake Skadar, Biogradska Gora and the mountains of northern Montenegro from the point of view of Dmitry Telnov, a destination photographer and travel writer, showcase Montenegro as a blend of different landscapes ideal for visiting and exploring while complying with the current rules of social and physical distance,” said Željka Radak Kukavičić, director of the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro.

She added: “The health crisis has slowed down the pace of travel and most tourists are in the stage of exploring their next holiday destination. These types of publications are an adequate form of promotion in strategically important source markets, especially in today’s circumstances.”

The photo story was ‘told’ by photographer Dmitry Telnov, who paid a five-day study visit to Montenegro in November 2020 at the invitation of the Regent Porto Montenegro hotel, as part of the resort’s first photo-tracking tour. The initiative was implemented in collaboration with the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro, the Tourism Organisation of Tivat and Porto Montenegro, with the aim of promoting Montenegro as a year-round destination.

This is a continuation of the good cooperation with National Geographic Traveler, the world’s leading travel magazine, with a view to positioning Montenegro as an attractive tourist destination globally.

This magazine recently ranked Montenegro as one of the seven most attractive holiday destinations for 2021. In an article entitled “Best of the World: seven unforgettable family journeys for 2021 and beyond”, Montenegro is ranked second on the list, alongside the likes of Japan, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
