Stabanska Lakes (Big and Small), are named after the village called Stabna, of which they are only 4.5 km away. The Big Stabanjsko Lake lies at 1,319 m above sea level, and the Small Lake lies at 1,194 m above sea level. The easiest access to the lakes is from the town of Plužine, via the path along Vrbnica and Stabanjski Stream.
The Big Stabansko Lake is 305 m long, and during summer water level the Small Lake is 165 meters long.
Color of the lakes is greenish, with lighter nuances in coastal parts and darker in the central part. Unlike the Big Lake, colour of the Small Lake is yellowish-green. This colour comes from the colour of muddy bottom and is typical for summer months.
