If you are visiting the Balkans for the first time, this the right place to experience the spirit of good "wine and dine” through food and ambience, just as a bohemian lover of a good tavern would do. "Pod Volat” is in the immediate vicinity of the Sahat kula (the clock tower). It opened 18 years ago and until recently it operated exclusively as a café, while since recently it has had a separate, restaurant part with its own entry, aimed at patrons who are used to different surroundings.
However, menu, quality of food and affordable prices are the same in both parts of the establishment. The place is well-known for the top-quality meat served here, thanks to one of the brothers who run this place, who also owns a butcher shop. There is a large offering of traditional cooked meals, home-made cheeses, and ever-present home cookies.
Waiters serve in traditional costumes and are exquisitely kind.
You can choose the wine for yourself in their well-organized wine cellar.
