The museum is housed in the magnificent building of the castle of King Nikola from 1885, close to the sea, surrounded by a park with different types of tropical plants.
In the Museum you are led through the cultural development of Bar, from prehistory to the Middle Ages, by an archaeological, ethnographic and historical collection. In the archaeological collection, there are the medieval "maiolica," ceramics made in the famous workshops on Apennine peninsula, distinguished by their beauty of shape and decoration. A part of the ethnographic collection displays costumes, furniture and items related to growing and processing of olives. In the museum a reconstruction of the castle interior from the time of King Nikola can be seen.
