It is located in the building of a former Graphic institute (printing plant) built after World War II. There are an archaeological, a cultural-historical, ethnographical and historical collection. The permanent exhibition shows the history of Podgorica from the period of the Middle palaeolithic to the end of the first half of the 20th century. Among the exhibits there are items from archaeological localities Boljevića gruda, from the Bronze age (1800-1200BC), furthermore Gostilj and Momišići from the Hellenistic period (3rd-2nd century BC) and the Roman townd of Duklja (1st to 4th century AD). There is also an exhibition of books from the 16th century printed in Venice in the printing shop of Božidar Vuković, manuscripts and icons from the 16th to 19th century as well as traditional costumes and jewellery that show the variety of folclore arts.
