National costumes and customs
Montenegrin national costume is among the most beautiful and the most elegant.
It has always been expensive, but people have always tended to have it even in the most difficult times, at least for the most important moments in their lives. The cult of wearing beautiful clothes is preserved to date in Montenegro.
Folklore: the gusle (one-stringed Balkan folk fiddle) is a traditional instrument. Oro is a traditional dance. Folklore dance groups cherish old songs and dances and present almost forgotten customs. In summer time in many rural places local games and competitions are organized.
Hospitality: Travelers and guests in Montenegro are always paid special attention. By tradition, they are even today, as a sign of the warm welcome, offered priganice (Montenegrin doughnuts) with honey and rakija (local brandy).
