This year EUR 350 million from tourism
About 700,000 guests have visited Montenegro so far and made 4.2 million overnight stays. Around 130,000 tourists are currently staying in Montenegro which is 2 percent more than in the same period last year, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism Predrag Jelušić said for the national public service RTCG. “In the first six months revenue of EUR345 million was earned of which something more than EUR140 million comes from the tourist consumption,” he said.
According to Jelušić, some 1.5 million tourists are expected to visit Montenegro this year which would make around 10 million overnight stays.
“Currently, we are showing a good tendency in terms of achieving this result,” Jelušić said.
The Russians make majority of our guests.
“We can say that traditional tourist markets oriented towards Montenegro such as the markets of Serbia and Russia still make about 50 percent of turnover from foreign tourism in Montenegro. On the other hand when it comes to the European Union markets, particularly Western Europe, we can say that the number of visits increased from 10 to 20 percent depending on which emitting market is viewed. We expect that guests coming from the European Union to Montenegro will in the end of this year participate in turnover from foreign tourism with about 22 percent,” Jelušić said.
