Great Interest for Montenegro at the “ITB 2013” fair in Berlin
During the international tourism fair “ITB 2013” in Berlin, which is one of the most visited and most significant tourism fairs in the world, Minister of Tourism and Sustainable Development Branimir Gvozdenović, Director of NTO of Montenegro Saša Radović and Ambassador of Montenegro to Germany Vera Joličić Kuliš, had a meeting with the leading German media covering the area of tourism. Representatives of the following media: “FVW”, “Octogon TV“, „Freizet Woche”, “ProfiReisen” and “Daily ITB” had the opportunity to get acquainted with the new tourist offer, current and future investments and plans of Montenegro for this market.
Minister Gvozdenović pointed out that focus will be placed on the presentation of Montenegro as an international tourist destination and that in the following period more attention will be paid to improving competitiveness in the area of airline connections and to the improvement of quality of accommodation. Director of NTO of Montenegro pointed out that apart from presenting specific offer for active holiday for which this market has expressed official interest, we will work more intensively in the following period on the presentation of MICE offer (offers for business tourism) for the purpose of prolongation of the season.
After the Congress of German Travel Association which was held in Budva in 2012, the German economy expressed extreme interest for the establishment of more intensive cooperation with Montenegro. Minister Gvozdenović, Director Radović and Ambassador Kuliš held numerous meetings with tour operators and the officials from the German Parliament. Stand of Montenegro at the fair was also visited by Marlene Mortler, President of the Working Group and member of the Committee for Tourism in German Bundestag. She talked with Minster Gvozdenović about the future cooperation in the area of tourism.
Tour operators “ITS” and “Olimar” acquainted Minister with current bookings where “ITS” booking at this moment is 30% higher compared to last year. This year “Olimar” (www.olimar.de) has offered arrangement to Montenegro for the first time.
The Hotel Group “Budvanska Rivijera” has signed today a contract with a French tour operator “Prodintour” for 2014 about bringing French tourists in the period from mid April to mid October to the hotel Palas” in Petrovac. This tour operator expects about 3,500 tourists during the next year and for this year booking is higher by 10%.
As a continuation of cooperation on positioning of Montenegro in the German tourist industry, a meeting was also held with Juergen Buechy, President of the German Travel Association (DRV), and also a meeting with representatives of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Minister Gvozdenović had separate meetings with representatives of “KfW” and the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Croatia Veljko Ostojić, who invited him at that occasion to visit Croatia which Minister Gvozdenović accepted with pleasure.
Stand of Montenegro was visited by the Minister of Science Sanja Vlahović.
In order to improve airline connections “Air Berlin“ will continue this year again with charter flights from Berlin, Dusseldorf, Köln, Hamburg and Vienna through Munich to Tivat in the period from 14 May to 1 October 2013.
Germany is an important world emissive market with about 60 million tourist travels at the annual level and Montenegro was visited last year by over 32,500 German tourists who had about 185,000 overnight stays.
At the stand of Montenegro there were tourist organizations from Bar, Budva, Cetinje, Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat, Ulcinj and strategic partners of the National Tourism Organization: HG “Budvanska Rivijera”, “Montenegro Stars Hotels Group”, hotel “The Queen of Montenegro”, representatives of the Association of Hotels of Montenegro, hotel “Hunguest Sun Resort”, “HTP Ulcinjska Rivijera” and the companies “Beppler and Jacobson”.
