Gerard Depardieu astonished with Montenegro
A famous French actor Gerard Depardieu, whose work has marked the film art of the late 20th and early 21st century, visited Montenegro.
It took him only one afternoon to start loving Montenegro. He liked our coast and the fact that he could reach the coast starting from the mount Lovćen for less than half an hour; he saw the mausoleum and many other historical monuments. He tried Montenegrin white wine “Krstač” and he liked it. He says he will have only nice memories of Montenegro.
“I don’t speak Montenegrin but I am familiar with your culture and generally the culture of the Balkans which is very different and significant. Montenegro is not small – it is huge because it has huge culture. It is small in size, but it is a big country for Europe.”
A famous French actor was welcomed by Prime Minister Milo Đukanović and Minister of Culture Branislav Mićunović. Đukanović says that Depardieu had already announced his arrival in December and invited him to come to Montenegro more often.
“I am glad that Montenegro attracts attention of the people such as Mr. Depardieu. In this way we can help that in the era of globalization Montenegro takes a better position in the processes of integration with its specific values,” says Đukanović.
Đukanović also said that having Mr. Depardieu as the ambassador of Montenegrin culture would contribute to the promotion of Montenegro in the world.
