This year, traditional regatta, tenth in a row, “Terra da mare” and “Herceg Novi Trophy” gathered an impressive number of sailboats and guests in Herceg Novi. Fifty-four sailboats applied for the competition. The Adriatic Sea was crossed by 46 of which Italian sailboats make the greatest number there were 6 with Montenegrin crews, 3 with Serbian and 2 with Russian crews.
Sailboats started from Bari on 27 April at 13:00h.
First sailboat maxi “Idruza” was 5 miles from Herceg Novi already at about 23.00h. Yet, this is where the seawater became calm and they managed to pass through the finish line only at 04: 49: 49 in the morning. Less than a minute later the finish line was passed by the sailboat “Fetch 4” which managed to “eat” handicap and win this regatta. All other sailboats gathered at the entrance of Boka Kotorska (Gulf of Kotor) because of the cam sea and in the morning under the light wind called oštrijal in a large group under the spinnkers sailed through the finish line in an impressive way. Comments of sailboatmen were interesting – they were saying that they did not mind bonaca (the calm sea) before the Boka because they had more time to enjoy the beauties of the entrance to the Gulf of Kotor.
“Herceg Novi Trophy” was held on 29 April on the route Herceg Novi – Rose – Tivat – Baošić – Herceg Novi. The landscapes were fantastic, the gulf was filled with sails, spinnakers, and genakers and a large number of guests who were watching it. Due to the lack of wind the route was shortened and the finish line was set in Baošići. “Black Mystery” was the first one to sail through the finish line at uncorrected time. It is interesting to mention that the “Herceg Novi Trophy” sailed for the first time under the ORC handicap. It is assumed that this kind of regatta brought to Herceg Novi over 500 guests. It was nice to see the quay full of sailboats, full restaurants and café bars on Škver.
